Paid $1600 for this YSL Bag

This is the Lou Camera Bag by Yves Saint Laurent- and I paid $1690 for it, and it is the first luxury leather bag we review from YSL. Overall the construction of this YSL leather bag was not too complex, and the leather choice was decent.

I estimate to make a bag like this would cost about $180 for leather, accessories, and craftsmanship.

You're doing the Lord's work...bringing us back to center, to reality.

Dude, I rather find a craftsman to make me a leather bag than pay that price.

You pay for social status, not the bag.

Coach is the one that brings real value for money. I am glad I saw his YT shorts mentioning Coach.

I bought this bag for $1, 290 plus tax in December 2019 By march 2020 this bag was $1490. I barely wore mine and I would see scratches on the leather here and there. The slightest scratch from my nail would make a big impact on this bag.

I’ve sold my YSL Medium LouLou and my Gucci Dionysus! I’m not spending thousands on a bag ever again…I learned my lesson!

I paid for it( but less than 1600, coz I bought it 5 yrs ago before the social media hype of all this designer bags now that went up in price in ridiculous amount esp here in US🤓and I don’t regret it, coz it still looks the same.
I so much love to buy good quality leather in those prices you are quoting even if it is from nameless non designer bag maker, but the big question is 😳 where can I find these kind of stores ?esp during my travels. I bought a so called no name quality leather in the Tuscan region, and 6 mos of using it, the thread started peeling off😳😏, and the buckles broke.. so yeah! so much of those

I love this content…! Highly educational, no jargons, well described. Very truthful with your own craftsmanship experience yet still respectful to the brands. Thanks for making those videos!

Can you please review Tory Burch bag. Please

This is why I buy Coach and Tory Burch. Almost no bag should be priced over $500 so that’s my general limit (give or take a little).

the thing i 💚 the most about this bag is the interior grosgrain lining, it’s hard to find a bag with this fabric interior - the only other brand i know that does grosgrain lining is aspinal of london. as for the leather, it’s beautiful but when i got mine i was a bit underwhelmed when i compared it to my other leather bags.
great deconstruction video!

I am by no means a luxury fan. However, one must appreciate the thought that (once) went into their designs. The pattern in the bag shown in this video isn’t particularly complicated, but you have to admit—the wavy design is stylish, and there’s value in its originality.

My wife bought a YSL bag a year ago. At the time, I was learning saddle stitching and working on making my own leather bag. I used to resent fashion brands for their overpriced products, but when I examined her YSL bag (a LE 37 small), I saw an incredible design in its underlying pattern—something most people wouldn’t even think of. I was also blown away by its craftsmanship. It took me dozens of hours struggling with French pricking irons and countless failed attempts to truly understand the level of effort required to create a bag of that quality.

Overpriced? Maybe. Would I buy one? No. But if affordable, I see paying a premium for such craftsmanship as a way to support real talent.

Exactly why I will always tap ‘add to cart’ on Coach, Kate, or Tory every time over high-end bags.

The pattern I'm seeing is, for an easy to make bag, roughly $500 and for a complex bag, roughly $800, is the max where he's going to say it's worth it based on materials and labor. If a bag costs more than $800, you're probably paying for status. Among top status 'luxury' products, Bottega Veneta is one that actually has genuinely expensive leather and construction, and while it still has a big status markup, maybe not as high a percentage as many other high end luxury bags.

Eyewear industry is just as bad. The markup is crazy! $20 plastic becomes $300-$600. Regular glasses too

The true is you pay the name brand not the bag 😂😂😂

It's beyond me why people would pay anything close to the price tag for how cheap they feel and look.
Several brands over the years decided to go cheap and it is sad.

I love how he gives time to more reasonably-priced, lesser-known, but excellent-quality accessories.
