Pixar already confirmed that they weren’t in a romantic relationship.
But good video!

My theory is that Luca is Bi or pansexual because in the galaxy scene, Saturn’s rings have the color of the pansexual flag. He shows feelings to The male and female or other gender character so, it seems like he is bi or pansexual by the way he shows feelings towards A female or other gender character and male character . It gives me the feeling Luca is pansexual because Giula (the female/or other gender character) acts in a kind of masculine way and Feminine way so that could mean she is gender fluid or she doesn’t care what gender characteristics they fall into so she could be Non-binary or Pan gender also they is a chance they are just a tomboy. Luca shows feelings towards both characters and one may be another gender that they seem. That is my theory

It Is a comming of age story not a comming out story..their friendship Is typical italian and quite innocent... something only true Italians can understand...eveb the songs in the film tell the story and add to It if Is Is to mean anything people are unaware that there is prejudice between North and south Italy...i think more that the "Sea Monsters" are dipicted as south Italians because it shows typical not well off, south italian countryside life...and Luca has gone away from a that lifestyle for studying and oppertunities in northern regions that may not accept him because he is south italian...the film is set in the 50s/60s judging by the music choice and back then south Italy had practically no good schools or work..worse than now...your only choice to live and get by was to work the ground and being a shepard or farmer...many immigrated for this reason and there are hundrwds of stories similar in italian culture...One Is in a film called "Barría" another in a film called "u zappaturi" and even in songs like "il ragazzo della Via Gluck" by Adriano Celentano and "amara terra mia" by Domenico Modugno. A Song about the fishermen that can dipict the Sea side Town Life Is "u pesce spada" by Domenico Modugno...there Is so much real italian culture and Life story in this that of you are a true italian you can only see friendship, innocence, Dreams but nothing gay.
