Hellmuth obviously tried to bully the loose cannon, even talking at him as if he couldn't understand what Phil was saying. And obviously the cannon could tell Phil was bluffing and felt confident enough to call. Great read and great call. Brunson always says that the math and statistics of the hand will always lose out to gut feeling and being able to read people, in this case he was right.

Phil's comment that the loose canon is just going to lose by calling others is dumb. He didn't call with pair of 10s like a fish, he called because he figured out that Phil's story did not make sense - both the turn and river changed the board texture dramatically, didn't really complete any proper draws (like flush etc.) and yet Phil kept betting as though he had it on every street from pre-flop to river.
On top of it, Phil's reply of "I may have it or I may not." - trying to appease/compromise/make peace and not be etc is a classic tell of a weak hand. Being combative, being loose with movements, answering with weird answers are usually tells of a strong hand.
Phil tried to run him over like the other LCs and got caught by a brilliant call.
