Odie's Oil Review Update Short

Hey everyone, just a quick update on my upcoming Odie's Oil review that many people have been asking about. There were some technical issues with my application in the first video, so I've decided to refinish that table and start again before rendering a final verdict.

Because I used a machine to buff off the finish I likely left a bunch of excess finish on the surface of my table. That excess finish hardens, get's all blotchy, and can scratch SUPER easily.

Lucky for me, you can easily apply a rescue coat of Odie's Oil over the top of the original finish and refinish the table. A little bit of fresh Odie's Oil will re-activate the original finish and allow you to buff it off properly. So that's exactly what I do in this video.

Big Thanks to Of Earth Furniture, the local Odie's Oil dealer for giving me some tips on how to properly apply Odie's Oil. We had a great chat on the phone and he gave me a lot of good feedback.

I've watched like three of your shorts and you're already my favorite.

Love what you're doing, keep it up, never change for anyone.

I just picked up a jar today. I've seen a lot on it and wanted to try it out. My first concern was price, this isn't cheap, but they say it goes a long way. Second is durability. Watching videos like this though, gives me some hope. For what smells and looks and feels just like my beard balm/oil I wasn't sure what to think, but then again, my beard does look really amazing

I've been looking up info and reviews on odies, and one comment stuck out. They said that Rubio's and the other ones use a low temp pressure to get the oils and waxes or whatever to bond together. Odies doesn't use this and that is why they really rely on you to buff it to get the heat to melt it into the wood. Thats why you hear about a lot of people getting blotchy like results. Probably didn't buff it long enough to get the heat to melt it right. Another point that they also made is that one is completely emulsified vs the odies just being blended together and not emulsified. Who knows, but seems to make sense with some of the odie's complaints.

Thanks for the video. I am looking forward to your update. I use a white scotch bright that is supposed to be 0000 steel wool equivalent. I like the smell and the look but it’s a lot of hand buffing.

Iv been keen on hearing/watching your follow up. I personally use this and find it great for what it is, however you peaked my interest when you mentioned you prefer a more unnatural looking finish. I find that just like you, Odies isn’t for all jobs and wanted to ask what is your go to for a more glossy, filled in finish?

How's it doing today? I am debating on what to purchase and want to go with odies but not sure about long term. Have some live edge projects lined up.

I've been using Odies oil for a while and I'm doing all the right things but I also notice the blotches. Mine comes out a couple of day's later.

Did you by any chance use mineral spirits to clean the wood prior to applying Odie's?

What do you use to clean a Odies Oiled table?

What did you determine with the ODIES

I can screw up a finish when I READ the instructions. ✌

Odies is garbage. Follow the "instructions" to a T, and 2 weeks later you can still make fingernail streaks in certain lighting angles. May be good for small things like cutting boards, but not for larger tables. The owner is salty cuz he knows his product isn't in the same ballpark as others. Just a bunch of good marketing.

Good job changing your opinion however . . . Why didn’t you just do what they said the first time?
