Simon did an excellent job of explaining why Dickens remains an relevant today. Dickens work both entertains and educates.

Callow is on to something here, there should be an animated film version of A Christmas Carol that's intended for grown ups. Most if not all the animated versions were family pictures/kids films, and most vary in quality of course.

But yeah an animated adaptation of A Christmas Carol could very well do justice to the book's "fluidity" as Callow has put it.

Simon’s reinvented himself as an actor as the default Charles Dickens.

Outside of his work, Dickens is sadly not man to be revered. A great man does not do to his wife what Dickens did to his. I am a huge Dickens fan, but the man was i think on the whole probably loathsome.
