The new 2021 iPad Mini 6 is here, and today I am reviewing the Smart Folio Case from Apple. Is it worth it?

I bought a Smart Folio like on Amazon at 20€, it was 160g instead of 106g for the Apple one, it was ticker and it was less easy to takes photos (difficult to fold). I have now the real Smart Folio, it is worth its price. I have no regret to pay 45€ more for something daily used. (Sorry for my poor English).

I use the iPad a lot with that second smaller triangle landscape form you showed. The iPad mini is nice to use to jot down a lot of text specifically in landscape mode for me, and the slight angle that config allows makes for a great typing experience.

As an artist you want angle so when you draw the art doesn’t get skewed from your viewing angle.

As much as I hate paying Apple prices, I've found with watch bands and iPad covers, I tend to be much happier with the Apple products. The watch bands in particular seem so much better than any of the knock offs.

For iPhone cases, though, I find plenty that are as good as or better than Apple's.

I use the second position of sketching. Flat on the desk is painful.

I bought the Smart folio case and although it’s thin & light, my Mini has fallen out of the cover about 3 times. It needs a lightweight plastic rim around the device to hold it securely in place. For this reason, I’ve removed the case & bought one of the other 3rd party cases. It’s really not worth the iPad dropping out on concrete or asphalt. For the price, it doesn’t offer protection around the edges.

I’m the ‘backwards triangle that elevates the iPad’ type of person. I love it this was when typing emails

the backwards tringle position is perfect for when you are sitting in bed or on the floor and doing other stuff whilst watching something on your ipad. Use that position pretty often tbh.

The genuine Apple Smart Folio is pricy, but the quality is evident. The exterior and interior feel premium, unlike the feel of less expensive offerings (and there are many) by third parties on Amazon.
I would have liked if Apple had designed the case with side protection, and accommodation for the Apple Pencil, as many third party cases have. I use the Smart Folio at home, but switch to a more protective case for business trips.

I have the white case too and if it’s anything like the white Smart Keyboard it will stay clean actually show less marks than the darker ones.

Its been 10 months now did the case get dirty, please reply, i am thinking to buy this colour otherwise I will choose a darker one.

When I ad an iPad Mini 5, I used the slight angle for editing videos and painting apps. I suspect the rather hard-to-open feature is convenient to keep the cover closed bouncing around in a back pack. BTW, I am enjoying your videos.

I bought a similar cheaper case from Amazon. I did not want to pay more for essentially the same case. The case I bought has strong magnets, my favorite color, and only costs $10. I also got another similar case that will hold the Apple Pencil securely. It was $12. I do plan to buy one more expensive case. A tough case to protect the IPad Mini from drops. That case is the Otterbox case ($60) which I will use on the iPad Mini at the gym.

I’ve been happy with 3rd party cases. Especially those made by Spigen.

What I think is missing with this cover/case is the latch to securely hold in the Apple Pencil 2.

Folding the case allows the iPad Mini to be viewed at an angle. It’s great when I’m sitting in my car and using my iPad in my lap while in landscape mode. If it is flat it shows a reflection of my windshield with a lot of glare. Having it angled shows the headliner with no reflection or glare.

Great video. About the backward's triangle position, its useful for me at least, when doing a presentation over zoom/teams call, and you need to write text on the screen, when using MS PowerPoint or Apple Keynote. If you need to explain a line of code etc, its easier to write such text in this position, combined with the slight elevation makes it good for presenting as well - provided the video call is off.
