It's how you drive it with those.
I had some fun with one about 25 years about.

Some guys would drive them with Texas star modulator or a small tube type driver(I forget the name, and i even had one after the MACO was gone).

I just had a Galaxy DX55V at the time I ran into it, 6-9 watts is about all I ever put into it since I was told the tubes were getting old when I got it.
Most of the time about 6 1/2 from my radio was enough to get around 525-550 out of it on my meter (did NOT have the good ones like you have I admit so who knows what it was really doing but it worked well hehe)and I lived on top of a hill anyway lol.
Peak would be 625 or so.

If I really hit it, I would see 575 and it would peak around 750.

Was a fun hobby for about 10 years, would get back into it but I am more into my bikes now.
Thanks for the video, it brought back some great memories.

I have a maco 300 2x4 with 6LB6's. What is the next tube size up that would be plug n play? Or does it need to be converted for better tubes?

I have a video of mine on my channel. I was using an unmodified Hy-Gain 623A to drive it with. It looks and works great but unfortunately I'm painted into a corner with it because it's never been used hard enough to burn the markings off the GE tubes! A real conundrum!
It's not helping my "crusade" to bring back 16 lower as a refuge for those of us who want to run the vintage 23 channel sideband radios that the ionosphere is currently on vacation, but I keep calling CQ every so often.
