Yamaha P-115 acoustic test | Jazz | Classics

Показать описание
Quick acoustic (built-in speakers) test of the Yamaha P-115 black (P-115b) digital piano as first-person-view video - which means you can see and hear excactly what I see and hear as player. Played by Bernhard Mächler.
Head-Camera:
GoPro Hero 8 with Media Mod mounted on a GoPro Headstrap
Microphone:
Soundman OKM II professional binaural mics which I wear in my ears
The Yamaha P-115 is an awesome digital piano which to my personal taste sounds and feels like a real piano. And it even is extremely leightweight and affordable.
The Yamaha p-115 in fact is the first digital piano which I'm completely happy with and fits my personal needs and taste regarding sound and playing feel.
In the past I used a Roland FP-8 and then later on a Yamaha P-80. I also regularly played on a real upright piano and also on a full-fledged Steinway grand piano available at my former school. So I'm quite picky concerning feel and mechanics. The Yamaha P-115 gives me the needed full range of dynamics and key response to be able to play Jazz and also vertous Chopin stuff.
I also used to own a Yamaha CP-80 electric grand and a Kawai EP-308 electric grand which were fun and had their own typical sound but were very bulky and heavy and therefore I had to sell them at some point.
I never play with headphones since I want to have the real acoustic feel of a piano and therefore also am picky to how the built-in speakers perform.
The speakers in the P-115 sound great and natural - neither too bassy nor too middy. It sounds very natural and true to how a real piano sounds, but with the option for lower volume.
One of the great things is that at high volume the keys vibrate upon playing full bass notes similar to a real piano. This is not an extra function like in the Avant Grand, it's just caused by the physics.
Imho the P115 is a real masterpiece from Yamaha and a godsend for people like me who don't have a lot of space and hate heavy bulky stuff. I have no relation to Yamaha and receive no money from them - this is just a personal opinion as a customer and hobby piano player.
The trial pieces fragments include:
- Some free improvisation
- Michel Petrucciani Bite
- Chopin Fantasie Impromtu
- Chopin Prelude 8
I'll also upload some full pieces played on the Y P-115 in the future. So stay tuned.
