Another “Challenge” (and Bait review) video for you guys featuring Evolution Baits BK’s Grass Burner VS the River2Sea Whopper Plopper.

Spoiler alert…...This challenge DID NOT go as planned (i.e. I didn’t get many bites nor did the weather cooperate). Stay tuned for a followup video in the next month or two giving a more detailed and experienced review of each of these baits.

Besides the fishing not being so great, both baits were a pleasure to fish. Both had great action and I would imagine entice some big strikes. We already know what the Whopper Plopper can do but the Grass Burner was a question mark. It still ended up catching me the only 2 fish of the day, one being one of the bigger bass I’ve caught out of the canal this year….And we know it catches big fish out on the delta-which is actually how I got introduced to the bait (see below for the Cal Delta Toad fest)

That big black whopper plopper is a boss at night, but I downsize and go with the "bone" color in the day and in the beginning part of the fall transition when bass are following the bait into shallow water areas such as drains and creeks, it has paid huge dividends.

Hey Greg, If you haven't tried them, tie on a Top Toad Floater from Stanley. Here on Guntersville, the TVA's herbicide treatment has got all sorts of loose grass, especially eel grass, floating everywhere. As a result, it's difficult to run top water treble hook lures, but they have been all over the Top Toad. Thanks for the vid and for rockin' the Native.

Very good looking lure, I was surprised though that the Whopperploppe would have gotten at least one bite

When I've caught my fish on the Whopper Plopper, it's been on a very slow roll. The Grassburner seems like a very interesting bait

I picked up one after watching a commercial on @informativefisherman channel. good buzz bait, different profile than others.

One of the other deference between these baits, is that the grassburner doesn't float like the whopper plopper. With that said though, I have been getting much larger fish here on the delta with the grassburner.

Wow, just found this channel randomly. Awesome to see a NY angler posting videos. I myself live right near Oneida Lake. That's my home lake, but I fish cayuga lake, delta reservoir, onondaga, otsego and canadarago lakes as well. Love it up here. Getting ready for some fall walleye @ Oneida lake.

I take it that's the Erie canal? Never fished it but I've thought about it. I have beaten the banks at the OLD Erie canalway though and caught pretty good fish out of it surprisingly enough given how shallow it is. I haven't been to Cayuga lake since spring. I live to the east of Syracuse so it's a pretty good drive away and with Oneida close by I've just been lazy.

You just got yourself another sub.

Great stuff, I'm glad I found this channel. You're doing a great job man keep up the good work.👍👍 in my experience fishing the northeast the whopper plopper produces at its best when very slowly retrieved. Sometimes they will smash it on a stop and go with quick bursts. I have never saw the other lure that you used before but it looks awesome.
