0.8 seconds to 100, LED headlights and 20.2 cm touchscreen series
The modern parallel hybrid system of the Ceed Sportswagon Plug-in Hybrid has a total output of 104 kW (141 hp). It combines a 1.6-liter direct-injection petrol engine (77.2 kW/105 hp) and a 44.5 kW electric motor (60.5 hp) with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The station wagon accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.8 seconds (top speed: 195 km/h, depending on equipment). The combined consumption is 1.3 liters of petrol and 11.6 kilowatt hours of electricity per 100 kilometers (29 g/km CO 2 ). The 8.9 kW battery can be charged from zero to 100 percent in 2:45 hours at a 240 volt charging station with 3.3 kWh.
The extensive standard equipment includes, among other things, LED headlights, audio system with 20.2 cm (8 inch) touchscreen, smartphone interface with voice control, two-zone automatic climate control, smart key, reversing camera, rain, twilight and parking sensors ( rear), height-adjustable and heated front seats, heated leather steering wheel, supervision instrument cluster, auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, power-folding exterior mirrors, fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels. Depending on the version, 26 cm navigation (10.25 inches) including the online services Kia UVO Connect, digital cockpit, leather interior, electrically adjustable driver's seat, front seat ventilation, sensor-controlled electric tailgate, electric glass sunroof and 17- Custom alloy wheels.
The interior of the third Ceed generation is characterized by high material quality and ergonomics. The dashboard has an emphatically horizontal layout, and its elegant, slim form offers functional advantages at the same time: the driver has a clearer view ahead than in the previous model and – like the front passenger – enjoys more knee room. The increased use of soft-touch materials as well as metal and chrome-look surfaces contribute to the cultivated, inviting atmosphere of the interior, which is also available with a glass roof depending on the equipment line.
A real eye-catcher is the free-standing 26 cm navigation system (10.25 inches, depending on equipment; for details see the "Infotainment and connectivity" chapter). It protrudes from the top of the central console, which is slightly tilted towards the driver. The buttons and rotary controls for the audio system and the automatic climate control, which are located below the screen, are also ergonomically arranged.
In the new Ceed family, Kia is using a fully digital instrument cluster for the first time in Europe (depending on equipment). When driving, the 31.2 centimeter (12.3 inch) high-resolution screen (1920x720 pixels) shows the speedometer and rev counter as circular instruments, with a multifunction display in between for on-board computer data and information on navigation and assistance functions. If the driver switches to Sport mode, the graphics on the round instruments are presented in a sharper design.
At 4.60 meters (plug-in: 4,605 mm), the third generation of the Ceed Sports-wagon has increased significantly in length (plus 95 mm, plug-in: plus 100 mm) and is also wider (1,800 mm, plus 20 mm) and flatter (1,465 mm, minus 20 mm) than its predecessor. With the wheelbase unchanged (2,650 mm), the front overhang has slightly shortened (880 mm, minus 20 mm; plug-in: 885 mm, minus 15 mm), while the rear overhang has been lengthened considerably (1,070 mm, plus 115 mm). The new proportions and the passenger cell positioned further back give the compact Kia station wagon a stronger presence and a sportier look.
