Good O. Followed this advice to replace a bathroom tap washer. Our washer was black with a nut in place.

Probably saved over $100. Can't believe plumbers get away charging this for what is really a simple job.

By "turn it off at the hotwater cyclinder", does that mean the switch because if I have to open anything on a hotwater cyclinder  than a plumber may be a safer bet.

Geez your thread tape was hanging out a bit. It always amazes me how people can't do this. It's not complicated yet people will pay a plumber over a hundred bucks to come out and do this 2 minute job.

In the old days the washer used to be leather which meant they swelled on contact with the water. None of the plastic rubbish.

For the record Mitre10 encourage home handymen like this guy. He is not a tradesman arsehole. One day when you buy a shithole of a house put it down to these guys who think being a tradesman is having a big tool.

Just for the record you need to be a licensed plumber to do plumbing work such as this. Secondly he did not do it correctly by a long way, he is clearly not a plumber. The tap head assembly is not called a cartridge either. Why turn the hot water cylinder off. Oh and when this all doesn't work call a licensed plumber.
