Why Choose a Mercedes S500 over an S580?

I said S500 for this whole video! I usually stumble into an S450 or S580 after a few tries. Oops!

Long story short it's cheaper, has better fuel economy and more than enough power. The question should be why buy the 580 when you can get an identical looking car with the same features for several thousand less?

Completely agree. I chose the s500 and I love it. I'm also done the speeding around stage of my life.

Im gonna be honest. If Im buying an S class, I want a v8 engine. A v8 engine just seems appropriate for the S class name and the car. If I want a v6, Ill get an e class.

Personally I cannot imagine buying the smaller 500 when they still sell the bi-turbo V8. With <11k miles the big difference is this, mo’power. Really. About 50-70 horse more technically but here’s the fact, if you settled for the MB 500 you’d still want the 580. I love my 22’S580. Pricy so get used to it costing as much as an another kid.

In Canada the S500 is only available in SWB which for me is great as it is the perfect size. As for those “speed demons” and with all that traffic and speed traps, this car has more than enough power to more than satisfy. I am hoping Mercedes brings this 3 litre engine mated to an electrical motor. In Europe it is designated as the S 580e with and without 4Matic.

Does this lady actually believe in S500 is better than an S580? Just so you know, I got an s580, with a 145k MSRP which has many more features than an S500, for 10k down, $1300 per month including tax, 10K miles per year, 3 year lease (at least on this is usually $1, 800 to 2200 per month). It was almost the same price as most people were asking for an S500.

Plus this S500 is fully decked out, but my car has more features. Most of the S500 are around 125k

Ive owned an s450 and an s550, although the v8 gives you a little more power, same car doing double the gas mileage is much more appealing

It's so cheap in America, unbelievable. I can buy 3 ones there to the price of 1 well specced in Germany.
