How to Add Canonical Tag to Your Website and Prevent from Duplicate Content | SEO Best Practice 2020

I this tutorial, I will show you how to add a canonical tag to your WordPress and HTML Page Using the simple and quick method.

Canonical Tag is an HTML element and way to tell search engines that your specific URL is the master copy of a page. It prevents caused by duplicate content. Canonical Tags are the most important and basic part of Search Engine Optimization.

When we do this:

1. If your website is running with www and without www websites, then use CANONICAL TAGS
2. If your website is running with https and without https websites, then use CANONICAL TAGS
3. You can add CANONICAL TAGS to fix the URL response code like 302
4. If pagination pages and filtered indexed in Google, then we can use CANONICAL TAGS
5. We can use to prevent duplicate content

Sir i'm a final year student and we have been assigned with a task of creating a website.But the issue is after having completed the entire website and checking we are supposed to hand over the website to sponsors.Now if they add a new image after for same name 2 images start showing up then how can i change it as access would be with the sponsors.So could you suggest a way where one time change would always prevent duplication

1. If I want to add a canonical tag for a specific page do I add the tag in the header.php file that is accessible trough the theme editor in WordPress or there is another header.php file that serves specifically this page that I need to edit from File Manager?
2. If header.php serves all pages at the same tme how many canonical tags can I list one after another between the head opening and closing tags?
3. is there a particular/best place to insert the canonical tag (just after <head>, just before </head>)? I saw where you placed it but did not understand what will change if I choose to open a new line (without breaking the existing code/instructions) anywhere and paste it there?

I have this problem The canonical url has no internal incoming links. What should I do to solve this problem? Do I have to insert the link of my site via rankmath as canonical?Of course I will follow your tutorial.Another question, do I have to insert the canonical links for every single page of my site?
