If everyone stops buying new cars manufactures will start making used cars.

7-8 year old car with 60k miles for $5k? Lol that's a fantasy out here.

I agree 100% Scotty. I don't believe in buying new cars either. Big waste of money. The last new car I bought was in 1994. The car I have now is 15 years old, looks like new in/out and under the hood, and its only worth a few grand, but if I had to buy a new car to replace what I have(same looks, ride, etc), I'd be spending 20-25K. It's foolish.

If you can buy a new car, do it. I'd like to buy a used car that's relatively new, but for that I need people to buy new cars.

7-8 year old Toyota with 50-60, 000 miles for $4000-5000. I'll have what he's having.

Buying a new car doesn't make sense in a financial standpoint, but from a safety, comfort, performance stand point. It makes sense.

Car's are depreciating assets... that asset is one of the most expensive purchases you will make. I would rather have a cheap car that I don't have to care about because life is far too busy to be worrying about someone scratching or hitting your brand new car etc.

Spend the money on a nice holiday every year... or work less and spend more time with your family etc. Then again, if everyone took my advice, there would be no cheap used cars for me to buy. So yeah... disregard EVERYTHING I said. If you aren't buying a new car every year, you are worthless to society.

There's nothing like the smell of a new car...it's new, clean, and you're the first owner of a car under a long term warranty....just have to do a lot of research on what exactly you should get. Cars are NOT "investments". It's a machine you use for transportation, it's not a savings bond...lol

I was gonna buy a brand new Koenigsegg Regera but thanks to Scotty, I'm getting a 2014 Toyota Corolla with 90, 000 highway miles on it instead. Thanks Scotty!

I have never bought and will never buy a new car because simply it's just not a good investment.

Only time I'd buy a new car would be if i was to keep it until it dies.

Most people in this country dont maintain their cars. And the more and more of the used cars out there are off leases it only gets worse. Have a friend who works at a Honda dealer sees cars that come in after a lease. 30k miles...original air and cabin filter, brake pads completely gone and caliper has eaten into the rotor, oil life meter at 0% and been like that for a while. Tells me ppl come into the service bay to have the oil life sensor turned off AND refuse to do an oil change saying oil changes are scams, unnecessary etc

Another reason not to buy a new car. That awful stop / start system that seems to be on everything now. Some models do not have a disable switch. I think of the junkers I drove in high school where I had to pump the accelerator at stop lights to keep the motor running. Paying big money for a new car and have the engine shut off at stop signs? That's crazy.

Scotty, I love your videos. I'm glad you can get a 7-8 year old car, with 50k-60k miles for $4000-$5000. Most of us can't get a deal like that anywhere in the US, not even in private markets like Craigslist. Maybe it's cheaper in Houston, or maybe since you buy your customers' used cars, they feel inclined to give you a good deal. I couldn't manage to haggle down a 2007-2011 Toyota Camry to less than $6400, and all of those had well over 100k miles.

I know why some people are saying they will never buy a new car, but thing is, someone has to in order for you to buy the car

I buy new because I don't like the nasty crap people do in their cars.
