What a plane and what an airline! I really hope many airlines take after Lufthansa's lead, I'd love to see one of these in British Airways (PAX), KLM and Delta colors

Indeed. When talking Airbus and Boeing, we should not forget that with modern jet airliners at least 50% of the plane's performance in the ende depends to the engine manufacturers - and these are essentially the same handful for both Airbus and Boeing.

PS: Early A380 were indeed overweight. The main difference compared to the 748 however is that despite being slightly too heavy, the A380 still achieved its design targets in terms of payload, range and consumption. The 748 meanwhile did not.

747-8I around 330M USD, A380 around 390M USD. However, thats more of a "rack rate". The actual price depends on the options (just like with a car), and massive discounts depending on customer and order volume are common.

yeah, there we got another good point, it depends on the airline, which cabin configuration they have chosen.
for example in my case, i flew with the emirates a340-500 and the 777-300er, both times to dubai
and i must say in this case, the 773 was much more comfortable, but i'm sure this is all depending on the airline, which interieur they choose for their planes.

That's what i am looking for and forward to. Perfect Aircraft and perfect Airline. Lufthansa is best Airline in the world. I'm really looking forward to see the 747-8 in Lufthansa colors in reality. :)

p.s and i think that not only boeing has the problems, GE has to put in the pip, s to achieve the goals for the engine, same as Rolls, the example is the 787.Yesterday Boeing delivered the 787 to JAL with the PIP1 GE, s.The Trent 1000 is not yet achieving it, s performance targets....

Very true. Flightglobal today reported:

Lufthansa is hopeful that it will begin to receive an improved version of the Boeing 747-8I with performance closer to original expectations by the time its 11th aircraft arrives in around two years' time (2014).

Carsten Spohr, chief executive of Lufthansa's passenger division, said while the 747-8's fuel burn had been lower than expected during the 1 May ferry flight from Seattle, performance is still below expectations.

So much about follow-up orders

i must say you are all very right in your opinions.
but beside the numbers of selling, think that no company should eliminate the other one, doesn't matter if airbus or boeing

competition keeps the market alive and makes the planes better
i'm thankful for this.
