As a long time Shadow fan, it sure hurt hearing him basically beg to be killed. He missed Maria that much that he wanted to give up.
And seeing Sonic not do it with "There are no winners with revenge" was beautiful.

When it comes down to it, when Shadow pointed to his heart I think Sonic had a realization of revenge is a tie but also that Shadow was wanting him to kill him, Shadow was trapped in a containment cell for 50 years, he thought of Maria when he got out and he couldn't bare with the suffering of pain within his heart, Maria was Shadow's best friend.

I personally didn’t enjoy sonic as much as I did until now, this edit really shows that sonic actually cares for Tom and I can clearly see it, those who understand me would feel the same way.
