As a Bulgarian, I've always felt a pitty for this long and bitter rivalry between The Bulgarian Empires and The Byzantine Empire. When working togheter we always managed to hold the eastern invasions like in the Second Arab siege of Constantinople but in the end we only achieved weakening of both empires and got swept by the Turks. Unfortunate...

PERFECT for what we had discussed. Really atmospheric! You really captured what I think of when I think of the Greek Roman Byzantines.

This is great, I especially love how well chanting is fitted with the instruments, even though orthodox chanting was generally meant to be without instruments, this is exactly how it should be. Gives me sort of a feeling that in the chaos of battle (instrumental parts) the only thing keeping the order in Byzantine lines is faith ("Kyrie eleison" chanting, which always ends _after_ an instrumental "sequence", or whatever is the expert term, meaning it persists above all that chaos, the fighting) resulting in their victory. I hope you continue making more Byzantine music like this

i had to google this one. i confused Kreta with Krḗtē(the island). my history is poor but i was pretty sure the bulgars never had the island of Krete. Kreta was a village near Thessaloniki :). pity no actual records regarding details of the battle exists(smth byzantine historians had an issue with - they prioritized writing about other things but not battles), but it was one of many byzantine victories, lead by Basil II, against the Bulgar Empire. and this music captures the spirit of the greco-romans(byzantines) splendidly.

One of your best compositions! I often revisit it given I love the repetitive melody and combination of the santouri with the qanun and the epic chanting.

This song is one of my favourite I love to listen to when I'm walking. Sometimes it becomes awkward especially when it rains and walking kind of sucks.

Great song! I love the chaotic feeling to it, as if you were in the heat of a battle. Maybe you forgot, but could you add it to the Byzantine playlist? I only noticed this song now, might help people in the future to see it sooner :)
