A very precious memory: Me, a very small child, in a movietheater in Athens watching the documentary film of Wolfgang - Mϋller - Sehn, under the title "Greece, the land of dreams" -1960. My father next to me explaining things... Magical pictures on screen presenting different parts of Greece and their history, and the angel voice of Nana, in the subleme songs of our great composer M.Hadjidakis about Athens ("Athina" in its first and usurpassed original version, this one), about migration (tora pu pas stin xenitia/now that you' re leaving to a foreign land -t' asteri tu voria/the north star), about greek dreams in a country just emerged to peace after long years of endless bloody wars, songs that are now all time classic masterpieces of the contemporary Greek music and civilization, songs that also established Nana as a great and popular star of the music scene in Greece, few years before she flew abroad to start her international magic career. And it was that very evening that i first heard this magical music associating it forever with my father's tender explanatory whispers, a memory engraved forever and ever in my soul. Long live my beautiful country, Greece!
