1.Overview of SSL, TLS and HTTPS

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. It is the predecessor of TLS.
TLS stands for Transport Layer Security. It is the successor protocol to SSL.
HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. It is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with the Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.
