Why did you choose to be pediatrician? | Premier Pediatrics & Teens

I'm trying to imagine being a pediatrician but can't get over how I'd have to work and do potentially painful and/or scary procedures on people who cannot consent but are spoken for by others. I could never stomach hurting a child. I know it's intended to help, but still, a child can't really understand and they can't give consent, and if they say no, but their parents insist and kid doesn't understand.... I couldn't deal with that.
