A big welcome into my life! I am a Dan from the UK and I have #Aspergers Syndrome or #ASD which is a form of Autism, often referred to as High Functioning Autism or #Autism Spectrum Disorder. I make videos every week on my journey and offer tips and tricks to help everyone who has Autism.

I also have help videos for helping people get a diagnosis of Autism or Aspergers Syndrome, and also some advise and help for anyone who is friends, partners or loved ones who suffer from Autism or Aspergers Syndrome and just about anyone on the Autism Spectrum.

Sometimes I feel like I have this extra "energy" buzzing within me and it makes me want to stim to let it out. Does anyone else feel this way?

I am almost 50, have Aspergers and have finger flapped since I was 3 back in 1973. Glad this is acknowledged and we are not seen as trouble makers, like back in the day. We're just doing what we do: No harm, no foul.

My son jumps constantly. He will either just jump up and down on the floor or his trampoline inside or outside. I would say 80 percent of his wake time, involves jumping. He will flap his hands sometimes while he does this also, or he will do full arm circles while jumping. He is in great shape lol

I just discovered this video and I felt the need to do some flapping because I was so excited to watch it!

I stim by swaying from side to side, rocking, wiggling my feet or toes, tapping or fluttering my fingers, rubbing my face or legs, doodling, nodding my head, and all sorts of fidgeting in general. (spinner rings!! are awesome!!) sometimes I connect lines or draw shapes in the air with my finger, and I flap when happy. my more --well - uncomfortable stims are biting my hands, scratching my arms, picking at my face and hitting my thighs but that's when I'm very frustrated.

I loved your video and subscribed!!

(PS: I was not diagnosed as a young girl, and since I'm very neurotypical-passing, I still don't have an official diagnosis - but I'm trying to get one. the deal with asd is a bit different here, people don't know /too/ much about it unfortunately it's frustrating when Autism is just treated like a joke because nobody knows how the spectrum works... anyway sorry for that super long comment I hope that was alright)

I was only diagnosed recently, I didn’t know I was really stimming until I was told.
My usual stims are:
- Snapping my Fingers if I’m overloaded
-Flapping my hands if I’m happy
-Rocking backwards and forwards, not sure why I do that, it just feels calming
-Biting my forearm (I know I shouldn’t but it does help) when I’m feeling a strong negative emotion, stress, fear, etc

Your channel has helped my understand my condition a lot, thanks!!!

I've always flapped my hands, since I can remember. I used to hide doing in under my desk while in school, or in the bathroom stall. It feels like all this excitement or anxious feeling I suppose some may call it, and it builds and builds. I always said I was like shaking off the feeling. I have never been diagnosed, so possibly just a thing I do. But makes me wonder how many functioning adults live with autism and have zero idea

Oh my god what, for years I've done the feet thing in bed to help me sleep and even made fun of it and referred to it as "cricketing" because it reminds me of crickets rubbing their legs to chirp. Except I don't chirp obviously, haha.

Is pacing back and forth stimming? I get so much energy sometimes the only way to release it is by pacing, or walking, back and forth.

Happy and stressed stims are very different for me. I rock or flap when I’m excited, snap, tap, or wiggle my fingers when I’m trying to focus, and flap more chaotically when I’m stressed, almost like I’m trying to physically shake off the bad feeling.

I am 72 years old. It’s kinda hard to accept that all the weird things I’ve done all my life have an explanation. The flapping, skimming and what I was always told was restless legs .

I pick at my cuticles, sometimes until they bleed, I chew on things, I shake my hands, I strum my fingers, and I bounce my legs.

I'm so glad to read everybody's experience. It made me understand myself better. Most of the people I know who stim do totally different things than I do so it's nice to have something in common with people

Facial stimming - making different faces especially my lips and nose. I've done it since I was a child.

I just started Hand Flapping last week and I've gotta say, it's a pretty good way to stimulate yourself.
Leg rocking is still my personal favorite way to stim.

I rock back and forth standing or sitting when I am anxious.

I think many people dont realize how hard it can be for a person on the spectrum to explain what its like to have autism/aspergers. So that you are able to make thiese videos and give explanations that are easy to understand for everybody is awesome and very valuable! Autism and aspergers is so common but often misunderstood and its so important to understand that its a syndrom and NOT a disease that needs to be «fixed» :)

I love stimming. I can’t help it when I’m happy or excited, I will pat my chest over and over. I also do it to focus and I use whatever tool I can fiddle with in my hand like cutting the air with a pair of scissors when I’m Skyping. Also I stretch my hands and spread my fingers and flap. Also just rub my hands together to get energy moving 😊.

I usually cross all of my fingers and/or shake one or more parts of my body

And yes, I bought a spinner and it really helps when you're anxious/stressed
