What irks me is the fact on 95% of hotter days in Melbourne (35*+) all supermarkets displayed no cheaper generic cola options, yet they all displayed plenty of Coke & pushed up the price past the $3 mark for 1.5 litre bottles.

This is how governments are actually meant to work even if two parties who from the outside are total opposite ends of the spectrum come together and work on things that are better for the people of Australia not all the big corporations. Divestiture powers need to be available for our government to use so that there isn’t a monopoly within all forms of business, we have already see the disastrous affects on the media in our country because all aspects of corporate media are owned by 2 or 3 people.

Where I live there is a supermarket chain called Aldi, another called Harris Farm and also IGA. Aldi's tax bill suggests profit margins that dwarf Woolworths and Coles at their worse. But because this is a foreign private company we have no financial statement to check. Aldi's price increases last year were higher than Woolworth and Coles . And Aldi boasted about it too. Aldi is very coy about where they source their products. You will not find the answer on Aldi's website, unlike the big two. Even the minnows such as Harris Farm give full disclosure. Do I want to go around an Aldi for a hour looking for Australian products to replace the Australian products I buy at the other four supermarkets? Then find if I want to support Australian jobs I should go elsewhere.

Yet the Greens will not even utter the name Aldi when talking about the sins of supermarkets. Why?
