Hank introduces us to biogeochemical cycles by describing his two favorites: carbon and water. The hydrologic cycle describes how water moves on, above, and below the surface of the Earth, driven by energy supplied by the sun and wind. The carbon cycle does the same... for carbon!

Extreme close up: "It's A Cycle!"
Totally something Bill Nye would do.

whenever he says "when a tree falls in the forest" i assume hes gonna say "does it really make a sound?" but he never does.

I have a exam about Carbon Cycle in two days. I should study 3 lectures about it but this video was enough. I mean, he explains better than the lecturer, it is a better summary than my notes and it's also funny lol

We can't stop climate change from happening, but we can reduce how fast it happens. I really wish more people would try, because it's a real issue that is affecting literally everything, whether we realize it or not.

I feel like he has a lot more energy in this episode. I think it was in part because of the personal anecdote. Thank you! You should do this more often :D

An anatomy and physiology professor at my university, that I work with in a biology lab, thinks that Hank and John and your crash course videos are awesome and he loves them. Just so you know, now you're validated by a professor at a leading research university.

For those of you talking about the ocean getting saltier and saltier, remember that there's only so much salt that water will retain. Think of adding salt to a glass of water. You can add a certain amount and it will mix, but too much will just leave a lot of salt at the bottom.

Your videos are so helpful and entertaining. With so many unreliable and differing answers out there, I find that this has been the most reliable source of info. Has helped me so much with studying for tests and exams! Thank you and please never stop creating these. They're literal life-savers.

I have ADHD, and it makes it laughingly easy for me to lose my focus while doing just about anything, especially learning. But somehow, I didn't lose my focus while watching this video! You explained it in an interesting way, talked at the right speed, and made little jokes that kept my interest. The background is plain and dark, and your clothes weren't incredibly bright or distracting. I just want to say thanks, since I really enjoy science and can't typically learn about it because of my ADHD, and now I can!
