In this Episode: 10 Cool Mac Keyboard Shortcuts - Series 1

OS X offers lots of cool keyboard shortcut commands...too many to mention in just one series. Therefore I'll be making a collection of Series each showing 10 Cool Keyboard Shortcuts that you might find interesting....On to Series 1:

So...Let's Get Started

And in no particular order

Number 1: Cluttered Desktop...no problem, pressing:

ctrl + opt + cmd + 6 makes them all align to the Right-hand side of your display.

Number 2: Open Applications or Utilities or Desktop Folders by pressing:

cmd + shift + either the letters A/U/ or D

Number 3: Open a New Window.
For the following Applications: Finder, Safari and Maps, by pressing:

cmd + N

Number 4: Force Quit Any Application that maybe acting up by pressing:

opt + cmd + esc

Number 5: Close All Windows that belongs to a particular Application, for example, if you have a few windows opened for the following Application, Finder, Safari and Maps, pressing:

opt + cmd + W

Will close all opened windows belonging to a particular Application.

Number 6: Create a New Folder within a Folder by pressing:

shift + cmd + N

For example you can be in the Desktop, Documents, Downloads Folder...basically any Folder..pressing shift + cmd + N will create a new folder.

Number 7: Quick Look:
Pressing cmd + Y or just the spacebar ( I personally prefer spacebar) gives you a quick look of a file...press again to close.

For example..any picture, document, video, music...practically anything gives you a quick preview, you can then decide if you wish to open it.

Number 8: Make all Windows disappear to all sides of the display by pressing:

cmd + F3 Abracadabra...All Gone...yeah Pops...I'm starting my Homework.

Press again to bring them all back...shazaam!

Number 9: Cycle through Opened Applications by pressing:

cmd + Tab to cycle Forward or shift + cmd + Tab to cycle Backwards.

Number 10: Just for Fun..."Let's See That in Slow-Motion! Or " Let's See That in Slo-Mo"

Whist in DashBoard, Mission Control or the Desktop press the shift key and release after clicking on minimize, maximize or even adding or deleting Gadgets.

minimizing or maximizing a windows begins slo-mo.

For example in:

DashBoard....Mission Control...Desktop

And That's All There Is To It.

Thanks Serge - I like the background music- Enjoy while you learn. I certainly enjoy working on mac by using shortcuts. My personal favorites are - cmd + space bar. I think i use it atleast 10 times in a day if not more. :)
