Please remember: These are real people who had the courage to come on my podcast and ask for help. Would you be willing to come on this podcast and share every detail of your financial life? Feel free to leave comments based on what you think, but remember that we are here to help in a supportive way, not to demean and criticize.

Probably one of the most nerve-wracking things we've ever done...I'm floored by all the support in the comments. It means the world to us to hear all of it, and to know that others have gone through similar situations and are rooting for us. We're rooting for all of you as well!! 💙💙

Thank you Ramit for trying to help us through this, I know we have a long way to go, but we'll get there.

One of the best, if not THE best, episodes of this show. Both partners came in willing to reflect, grow, and change, and both clearly wanted to be the best person they could to one another. They let Ramit do what Ramit wants to do for people and it's beautiful to see.

What an honest and refreshing couple. No denial, not delusional….. Just differing experiences and perspectives. Great episode

First generation Nigerian American here. As the first daughter of Immigrant parents I resonate with Fernando. The feeling of duty to the parents who worked so hard to give their children a better future.

It wasn’t until this episode that I calculated how much I give my family each year. 18K/year, I had no idea it was that much! 🤯

So why have I been feeling guilty that I’m not doing more, instead of feeling proud?

Such an eye opening episode thanks Ramit❤

I am crying at Fernando’s story because I feel the same.
I felt like a burden for so long in my life and I am only now seeing I am not and I have to reprogram all my behaviors and I see how it shaped to much in my life. That I’m not worth spending money on while I make more than enough.
I’m proud to say that I finally booked a dental apportionment, beauty treatments, a luxury Bag and a nice vacation. After years of wanting it and never pulling the trigger on the expense.

Please do a follow up on Anushka and Fernando in like a year!!! I think they are now my favorite couple (sorry Millie and Christian 😂). I found them to not only be inspirational but also accountable. To see them making the strides they are making at 30 and 31, it’s truly admirable. I wish them further success and the ability to enjoy that success and feel proud. Great job!

Rimit, what a gorgeous couple. I’m a 30 year old immigrant I share Fernando’s issues we immigrants over compensate becoming top of class ect. financially it helped me become financially free and retire my parents. However, we have to stop running. I literally did a PhD “just to be sure” I have back up degree. As immigrants a lot of us suffer with secondary ptsd due to what our parents went through. May god help us all heal and break the cycle.

Anushka is first and foremost clearly a very intelligent and caring person. But she also looks like a freaking Disney princess! Girl, I need an eyeliner tutorial, you’re killing it! 😂👏

They're a lovely couple and don't seem afraid of communicating, so I think they'll be fine. Anushka is right to be proud of how she's been running the family finances.

Wow. This episode made me cry. In my 20s I operated with the fear and family responsibilities of Fernando AND the obsessive, controlling spreadsheets of Anushka. The pandemic knocked me out. I HATED myself for not predicting and preparing for it... yes, I know that sounds crazy. So I got trauma therapy, and anxiety meds, and a deeper relationship with my faith. It's the only way I've been able to exhale. Living like you are the only person who can save your family from unknown disaster is HELL. I pray these two get the help they need to shift their mindset and remove that burden from their shoulders.

Really striking how the more successful the couple, the longer and more thoughtful follow-ups.

I feel so much love for these two: beautiful couple and I really admire they are able to open up about things that are deeply intimate and personal. As an immigrant myself, I was tearing up for most part of the episode. It shows great maturity and a desire to make things better. They will be fine

This was a great discussion today. The money was actually secondary and the understanding of culture and its impact was front and center. As an African American woman the discussion of helping family as a part of your existence is a great addition. Many financial gurus that are not POC usually do not discuss this at all because it is not something they have to factor in. Great podcast!! This is why I look forward to Tuesday mornings when a new one is released.

I love that Anushka put a line item in the budget for Fernando to buy video games so he can do that guilt-free. I had a friend whose husband was obsessed with Transformers. She literally set up a Transformer budget for him in their finances. He didn't have the guilt problem; he had the overspend problem. We all get to define our rich life.

What a beautiful couple! This has to be the best one yet! No arguing, no blaming, just two people who clearly love each other dearly, getting help getting on the same page. More of these please!

This is definitely my favorite episode so far. You can truly see how much of a partnership they have and their openness to examining their own ideas around money was inspiring.

I so relate to Fernando. When my husband was alive he was Anushka. The irony here is my husband died at 49. We never vacationed or lived “our rich life”. Although I’m financially secure I still operate out of fear. Spending on myself feels painful and guilt ridden.
