I'm surprised to see the performance so different for the E-mount. We're lucky to have such consistent thorough reviews from you to highlight the differences.

Great review as usual and great little lens! It would be great if Viltrox gave us a premium version of this lens by keeping the same optical formula but upgraded the coatings, added weather sealing, and added one or two external features. That version would sell extremely well if at twice the price or more. This lens though represents insanely good value for what it is.

I purchased this lens based on your review and it arrived yesterday. However, on my A6700 while the lens focuses quickly at f1.7, when you stop the aperture down the focus slows considerably and the aperture actually closes to achieve focus and then reopens. I don't know whether this is a defect in this lens or a characteristic of the lens in general. I've contacted Viltrox, but they've not responded yet. If this issue is not resolved, the lens will be returned.

As usual, a typically thorough and very sensible review of a lens that has both, excellent image quality, and a non RF price tag.
Were it not for the fact that I remain perfectly satisfied with my Sigma 56 1.4, I would have been tempted.

I was torn between this one and TTArtisan 56mm before. Both are great value for the money, but I liked the design of tta more. These 3rd party lenses are doing really great nowadays.

I’m thinking buying this to replace my sony kit lens. Is it an upgrade on the picture quality or it’s just the same ?

TTArtisan 56mm/f1.8, Viltrox, which one is better?

I already have TTArtisan 56mm F/1.8 for A6700. Is it worth upgrading to Viltrox? I quite like it for stills, but I find the motor too noisy for video. Also the corner sharpness is not the best wide open

Hi Dustin.
GREAT CHANNEL - please keep it up ;)
Would you be so kind as to try and find the time to do this comparison please.
Both are very, very similar in price point.

Thank you very much !

I owned one. Tested it with the ttartisan 56/1.8. But for close-up shots, it's not as sharp as the tta. For distant shots, Viltrox is better. Not sure it's just my copy or others experience the same.
