Unleashing a Giant Beast of a 1/10 Buggy! ... It's been a while since I've taken a Kyosho for a run so here's the Kyosho DBX VE 4WD Brushless Buggy on what I thought should be a cool uneventful presentational cruise with some nice 240 fps footage. Didn't exactly go as planned.

Thank you for watching!

Seems I'm out of luck with these brushless buggy runs on safe and flat ground at the moment. While the Bigwig (see last week's videos) lasted at least 5-10 min this one happened to brake down on me after less than one minute. But since I haven't featured the Kyosho DBX VE here before, I might as well share the small amount of footage for those interested in this quite specially designed brushless ready-to-run buggy.

The Kyosho DBX VE RTR (Kyosho 30842) is a beast of a 1/10 RTR Buggy with large tires, low gearing and a stock Team Orion Vortex 10 BL 2800KV Brushless motor. What it lacks in top speed it makes up for in torque.

But I'm not sure if '1/10 Buggy' really describes it the best. Compared to a classic 1/10 buggy, the length of the a-arms and the size of the wheels/tires is closer to what is commonly found on a large 1/10 truggy/stadium truck or a 1/8 buggy.

I guess this is really what describes it the best: A 1/10th scale buggy chassis with a 1/8th scale double wishbone suspension and 1/8th scale wheels/tires. I believe Kyosho calls it a 1/10th with the best from a 1/8th. I don't know about that, but it sure is different from all my other 1/10 buggies and that's what I really like about it. It also has a lot of nice stock features: aluminium chassis, oil filled big bore shocks, full ball bearings, steel pinion etc. A little heavy, but should make out a nice basher, especially for the dedicated Tamiya/Kyosho enthusiasts.

This is a second hand model, and I did what I always do with these: inspect them very briefly and then take them straight out running. I simply cannot wait getting to know them and I'm not too worried about them falling apart, since they are not my own "babies" that I built myself. Things will maybe break but then we take it from there. After inspecting it when I got home from this run, it is possible that the sloppy suspension setting/adjustment was what caused one of the the front drive/swing shafts to bend ... I think. That and the fact that the rear suspension definitly needs to be raised, as it on acceleration pushes itself down and pushes the front up. Luckily I already got some beefy drive/swing shaft upgrade drive shafts for it, the same as the rear drive shafts, so I'm more than happy to get an excuse for getting rid of those thin front shafts this one came with. For those interested in Kyosho and the DBX model I got a video coming uo soon with the repair, upgrade and adjustment. She's already ready to run again!

Looking forward sharing some more of this buggy - hopefully also in longer and more eventful off road runs ... if the weather and time permits it!

WOW! After just those few seconds what a bummer. But at least it's already fixed and hopefully a lot stronger for the next run

Oh Dear - not again! But those driveshafts look way too thin, good job you got some beefy ones to replace with! Great looking buggy though - should be a blast off-road - the only thing I'm not keen on is the exposed pinion/spur gears!! :))

Bummer about the short run. I can't imagine sloppy suspension did that but I could be totally wrong. This thing is the cousin to my Suby rally car but they are different enough with the bodies off chassis and suspension lay out wise. I'm sure you'll figure out this gremlin and have it running again soon.

Wow what a strange thing to happen with the dogbone. Normally what you expect to happen when you jump a car. But cool car and love the shocks.

Awesome mate! the colour scheme is good I like the blue wheel nuts lol. That's a pretty good bend in the dog bone, did it just happen on the flat ground like it looked like? This is what my sst 1937 is based off of.
