Hello, Connor.
I want to add some notes about visa-free regime.
1) 5 days visa free regime is applied if you ARRIVE and DEPARTURE via Minsk Airport.
And as races to Russia are domestic they DO NOT COUNT.
So even if your friend arrived via plane from Moscow, he wouldn't get a visa-free regime.
Also if you arrive via plane to Minsk from not-Russia, and then departure to Russia, like "visit Belarus on route" it is also a violation, so you can get a ban (similar to you mentioned in some video, I guess you got it because you arrived to Grodno, and travelled outside bounded region to Minsk) for breaking the visa-free regime. (It is like you arrived, but not departed).
2) 10 days visa-free regime is applied only for 4 districts (Brest & Brest district, Zhabinka district, Kamenets district, Pruzhany district) inside Brest Region, not the whole region. However it is not limited only to Brest city.
P.S. For Brest this regime is rather new, so there are not so many cool websites and options to buy online (as you mentioned), and as a local I feel a bit confused about it.
Update. Also it seems that they added Svisloch district of Grodno region to the list, but I am not sure.
3) 10 days visa-free regime is applied for Grodno and Grodno district inside Grodno region.

P.S. If you stay in a hotel you don't need to go to police to register after 5 days, they should do it theirselves.
Also and however I should advice to ask them about it.
Also you can ask other rent variants, if they do it.
May be they do it. (In fact if they rent you a place legally they should do it).

P.P.S. About a legal drone usage:
1. You can fly not more then 100m by height.
2. Your drone should be visible to you, de facto: 300-400m distance is ok.
3. If your drone is more than 0.5kg should have a sticker on it with your name and address.
4. There are some areas forbidden for flight, you can find it online. For example: half of Brest is not allowed for flight, because of the border (Fortress is forbidden) and airport (east part of the city). The central part, where you are walking at the video is allowed.

St Petersburg is now visa free for Irish and EU passports ( Not UK or USA) . Ukraine immigration are obsessive about going through passports looking for Russia/Crimea stamps in my experience . went through my passport several times to check

The visa to Moldova is a little more complicated. If you go to the Transdniestria region for more than 10 hours, you need to get a visa when you're there.

I am traveling later this year to Transnistria, which is in Moldova but considers themselves an independent country. I heard there are some issues with going there like that you have to get a registration card when you enter the region, and that if the bus doesnt stop at the border you wont get this card, and that they will not allow you to leave then without a bribe/fine (if you dont have the card), is this true or is it more simple than that? I booked 3 nights at a hotel, I am into odd and alternative travel destinations so I think Transnistria will be my cup of tea. Also going to Belarus this year.

So according to the way you think Crimea is on dispute and what about Kosovo? Those cities have referendums and their citizens choose what they wanted
