Hate to say it, but when I first watched your video, I thought, "Darn, I've been tying this knot wrong for many years". Then I checked my original sources, and other on-line tutorials, and all confirmed that I'd been doing it right all along, and it's this video that gets it wrong! The problem is, you are forming the round-turn back-to-front with respect to the half hitches, resulting in a cross-over of the two loops which should not be there! If you had put the rope end over the bar pulled it back under and to the right of the standing end, and repeated that, before tying your two half hitches, then the knot would be correct. Otherwise, great video! :-)

Just now realizing that a clove hitch is really just 2 half hitches

If you use a buntline hitch you do have two half hitches, but what a lot of people think of as two half hitches is in fact a granny knot which is not two half hitches but two overhand knots which is two hitches.
