Since you dont undestand the navigation piece, its a HUGE deal for people with disabilities. my best friend is blind, and with the now added text to speech on the switch 2 and navigational assistance. He may actually be able to play zelda, and if he has issues, now he can screen share with me in real time.

I wish everyone would just stop fighting about the price. They aren’t going to change it, yes it is expensive but they can’t do anything about it especially with eggs as high as they are, yes I wish it was a lot cheaper because I am broke and probably won’t be able to afford it, but everyone is going crazy. It’s driving me crazy and I am POSITIVE it is going to be just as much of a flop as the Wii U. It is already doomed to fail if there is already this much controversy.

I HOPE there is a way to DISABLE the 'global telemetry/states' that will be added to the NS2 game, I don't want to 'compare' my states to others, I hope its available offline (or contact straight to your phone from the NS2 console itself) INSTEAD of needing internet.
I ALSO agree, NOT everyone has a smartphone, or wants one, or just can't afford one, I WISH they just added all that info into the game itself via extra menu or something, INSTEAD of ANOTHER Nintendo app.

Indifferent to the app, I won't use it. They stated that TOTK is complete and there won't be be DLC, which is disappointing, but after hundreds of hours I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. Playing enhanced versions isn't worth nearly $500. I doubt I'll buy a S2 until the next 3D Zelda comes out.

One of things most people don't know about is that the Botw switch 2 edition does NOT include the DLC with it. So not only is the game higher in price but you have to pay for the dlc on top of it, increasing the price even further.

i think the hassle of paying for upgrade versions is because you, nintendo, sold me for $70 a game that actually doesn't work well (botw sone areas but especially Totk).
In Tears there are areas where the framerate dropped embarrassingly. so having to pay for something I already paid for is annoying.
and the voice memories...really nintendo? now? That thing should have been added in the base game, especially in tears of the kingdom which has a lore that seems like an emmental.

They could also use the Game Share tech to stream the navigation stuff to another Switch if you have one.

It's not a phone I don't have. It's an actual Internet connection in my home that I don't have.
That's why the expansion packs DLC is no use to me. I want physical copies of those extras. If they're not available I as usual lose out playing the whole games.

A little context regarding the price:

1983 NES launch price US$180 (equivalent to US$530 in 2024)
1991 SNES launch price US$199 (equivalent to US$425 in 2024)
2006 Wii launch price US$249 (equivalent to US$399 in 2024)
2012 WiiU launch price US$299 (equivalent to US$415 in 2024)
2017 Switch launch price US$299 (equivalent to US$390 in 2024)

So, basically, compared to the cost of life, and the evolution of inflation, the Switch2 is not crazy overpriced.
Plus, there are other factors making the production price spike that are outside of Nintendo's control.

That amount of money back in 1983 was not insignificant!

The fact that big N choose to release content on the phone sucks, true, and it could have satisfied people for new story lines if it was ingame, just like BOTW did with it's dlc. Though, the fact that you guys didn't mention the added save file for BOTW is kinda criminal. One of the reason peoples want dlc is for the bonus save files that Master Mode provide (and the added difficulty, yes), so even if TOTK didn't get it, having 3 saves on a single account is a really great thing Nintendo has done with it.

They should've put this stuff in the ACTUAL GAMES instead of putting these features in an awkward smartphone app, these things are almost always annoying to use, going back and forth between two devices.

It reminds me how with the Wii U version of BOTW, they removed the unique gamepad functionality because they found it to be annoying to use, imagine how much more annoying these things will be once the novelty wears off. It's clear they are doing this to incentivize people to download the app, they want to increase their presence in the smartphone and social markets, and getting higher app download counts helps with that.

Zelda tears of the kingdom, the one game I can confidently say was created to take a year to complete entirely.
