Top 10 Spyro Year of the Dragon Levels

Let's take a look at my 10 favorite levels from the third Spyro game, as we continue our Spyro marathon.

This game was my childhood. even Crash Bandicoot cant beat Spyro!

Dino Mines is one of my favourite levels in the game. And I like every level that involve using Sergeant Bird, especially Enchanted Towers.

My favorite would have to be a tie between Cloud Spires and Enchanted Towers.

Cloud Spires is the epitome of a nostalgic level for me. When I was younger and played this game, I had trouble with gliding, believe it or not. When I finally got there, I was amazed with the layout of the level and the missions were a lot of fun (though I also had a lot of trouble with the thief in the cloud mission. Now he isn't too bad for me).

Enchanted Towers is one of the more non linear levels in the game, as you can traverse the level with either Spyro or Sgt. Byrd. Also love the missions. The wolf mission was enjoyable and I spent more time in the skateboard park in that stage than anywhere else in the game.

That laughing rhynoc in the pipe in Seashell Shore still gives me PTSD to this day. It's like Trouble With the Trolley... but *unskippable*.







Also Enchanted Towers. Best level ever. The only one that uses your friend(in this case Sgt. Byrd, which is alright i guess, but it kinda had to be for this setup to work) in a very ingenious way by making it so both Spyro and the friend visit the same level, but the friend is able to explore it more fully, getting access to higher grounds, high-up tower windows and etc. The fact the level actually references Spyro 2 with having you find the dancing skeleton's bones but now as Byrd is awesome, the wolf mission is the purest cutest thing in the world and i want it i want it i want it... And of course, the Skateboarding area. I've literally stayed for hours on that area beating my record over and over again and it's AMAZING.

Also, even though I love Fireworks factory, it's refreshing to hear someone who isn't blown away by it.

Enchanted Towers is my favorite level from Year of the Dragon. :)

Charmed Ridge is personally my favorite level in the whole series. Its color palette and music are perfect to me, as well as the design references to Alpine Ridge. Plus, magic themed levels are usually my favorite.

I love Enchanted Towers tho' it's a wide level with awesome missions a great skate park and also you can fly around the whole level with the sgt :D

I really like Molten Crater and Enchanted Towers the best :) I love how you can play as Sgt.Byrd in Enchanted Towers and fly around the world as him as well as run around it as Spyro :)

Recently i had the chance to replay spyro year of the dragon, which was my childhood game years ago when i was really little. Not only did nostalgia smack me in the face but i noticed more things that i didnt pay attention to when i was a kid. Im 15 now and i now enjoy art, especially digital art and i like to explore color and how colors work together and compliment each other. And oh boy, i have to give major kudos to the artists and designers of the levels in the game. The color schemes in each individual level are GORGEOUS and are all super memorable and seem to perfectly fit and conpliment the theme of the level. I look back to this game and the artist in me screams at how beautiful the game is. Each level manages to fit in so many individual colors yet everything fits together like a jigsaw puzzle. I'm almost a little nervous about the reignited trilogy because the game's redesign might lose the beauty of the game's color schemes and mood. I probably sound pretty weird but i cant help being an artist and admiring other people's works.

I fucking LOVE the soundtrack for Desert Ruins. It's so spooky and mysterious and really creepy at the same time. It stuck with me as a kid. I adore it.

I agree with some levels that are your favorites, it's subjective I know, but I love the way you say your reasons while you were showing the level, I hope to find other people to share the love for this game cause is my favorite one.

I agree with most of these. As much as I loved spooky swamp I did not like that mission where you had to clear that path for the twins with the bombs

I must say I wasn't expecting the number 1. It's actually my least favourite, followed by Lost Fleet. I get where they were going with it but it never quite tickled me. Frozen Altars was probably my favourite (messing around with the ice breath) along with Spooky Swamp (haikus are fun) and Seashell Shore (all round solid, apart from that blasted pipe).

I think the levels that bring back the most nostalgia for me are Cloud Spires, Enchanted Towers, and Fireworks Factory. I was always excited to play those as a kid and when I go back and play the game again, I remember that excitement and it's wonderful.
