How Did Manchester United Win The Treble?

Contrary to performances in recent years, Manchester United is still the most dominant team in the English Premier League era. 13 Premier League titles is no joke.

In addition to that, United still remain as the only team in the history of English football to win the fabled treble: A Premier League, a Champions League and an FA Cup. All in the same season.

The story of how this happened is one laced with nothing but glory. But how exactly did it happen? How was Sir Alex Ferguson able to guide Manchester United to the Promised land?

Also very poignant to note that May 26, the date of the 99 Champions League final is also Sir Matt Busbys birthday. Seems fitting.

I was at the arsenal Vs man u match in 99'. Absolutely iconic night, Keane sent off, Phil Neville giving away a penalty, Bergkamp missing, I remember Schmiechel winking at the fans (we were behind the goal) to make everyone feel at ease and Gary Neville shouting "come on!" At us. Then Giggs scores THAT goal and we'll the rest was history. Absolute

I vividly remember Bayern v Man U final. i was in a hotel with my dad on a business trip, that night my dad went to bed after the first half seeing how formidable bayern was. I was hoping and praying for a miracle. Right at the 91st min, i woke my dad and told him we are going into extra time! He went to take a leak, when he came out i told him we had won. He was dumbfounded as how it happened, we spend the next 1/2 hr watching the Play by play commentary and replay for the last 5 mins of brilliance.

Btw, my dad also bet some $5, 000 on united winning. Years on, that treble year was the most memorable year for me as both a football and united fan. I feel so privileged to have watch the best of United making history that day.

I hope something great will happen again with Ronaldo rejoining Man United.

22:36 "and Solskjaer has won it!!" I get it. Others won't understand why it was so painful and heartbreaking to see his managerial tenure not being successful. Never doubted his conviction though.

Thank you for making this video. Manchester United really defined all odds in that season. I mean Scholes and Keane were suspended and still won the thing! Also imagine if Twitter or YouTube was there back in the day Sir Alex would've been sacked.

Dude this is probably your best video so far. I love watching your videos gradually evolve in quality. It’s like watching the young Cristiano Ronaldo go from tricky teenage winger to one of the greatest players of all time. At this rate you’ll be the best football analyst in the world within twelve months

Even as a Gunner: massive respect for Man Utd. I'd dare to say SAF is the best manager this game has ever seen.

I'm an LFC hooligan in my own right. But you see, i really and extremely admire Sir Alex. He's a rare gem! I wish every manager is like him. ❤️

this match is the best match ever according to me
trailing by a score of 1-0 in the final for 85 mins
bringing in players who scored 2 goals in 2mins and sealed the treble
wow
simply sensational

I was 15 when I watched that team win 3 trophies in the matter of 10 days.
As well as the FA Cup semi-final reply at Villa Park with *THAT* Gigg's goal.
What a time to be a teenage boy, 1999.
That season, that team, that manager... Perfect combination of talent, determination, chemistry and several large doses of luck. And yes, you make your own luck, but luck nonetheless.

So many stories, so many moments, daredevil football, determination, spirit, unity and skill. A wonderful midfield, probably the greatest English side to grace our time. All built with the foundations, rivets and structure of Scottish steel. Alex ferguson is the greatest manager who ever lived.

As a Jamaica I appreciate York and Cole being apart of the 90s winning as a Man Utd fan. Viva la Caribbean. (Cole is Jamaican, Yorke Trinidad)

“I tink, when you have a player like Denis Irwin, always fit, always trained hard, great at set pieces and could defend, was the main reason for the treble.”

-Roy Keane, probably

Even as an Arsenal fan, I don’t think anything with top this. Man City are more than likely to win the treble this year, fair play to them (not financial tho). However, they really have walked it to get where they are. This United team had THAT match against Juventus, THAT match against Barcelona, and of course, *THAT MATCH* in the final against Bayern. Imagine loosing 2-1 despite leading 1-0 for 89 minutes. And United also battled for the title, winning the league on the last day, and had an incredibly tense FA Cup semi final against us that featured that Bergkamp miss and that Giggs goal in the last minute. Legendary stuff.
