Collegiate wrestler, varsity football player, rugby club, 21-0 sumo wrestler, and world class pro wrestler. Certainly one of the great heavy athletes of all time.

John Tenta, a legit sumo wrestler. He even went over to Japan to show his stuff. However, I'll never forget, "I'm not a Shark, I'm a man!"

When I was a kid I wrote to hulk hogan in the hospital when earthquake "broke his neck" and received a black and white picture of him in a hospital bed giving a thumbs up with autograph.

I had some interactions with Earthquake towards the end of his life on the Wrestlecrap forum And he came across as a loving, top, stand out guy. All the interviews with his peers support that. Just a top talent and top man. RIP Earthquake. Thank you for the memories and also for squashing Hogan on the Brother Love show

Earthquake is my favourite wrestler. Best power slam ever. Such an underrated wrestler and tough man.

I was lucky to briefly talk to one of John's kids. He aknowledged that John enjoyed his face run in the WWF as kids weren't scared of him. I asked because I felt his smiles at that time were so genuine when he interacted with the crowd. I also heard that noone would mess with him as he was a legit tough guy- there was an incident in WCW where he wanted to beat up Arn Anderson after some weird booking choices and dude was hiding and shitting his pants 😁😁. One of the best and unforgotten, John Tenta RIP.

John Tenta in the afterlife: "Yeah, that never happened."

I had talked to him briefly a few weeks before he died, was indeed a very good dude. The way he could move in the ring at his size was unbelievable. Pushing 500 pounds and could move like a cat.

I grew up in Surrey B.C., John Tenta (Earthquake)'s hometown and I remember several times seeing him stomping around Guildford Mall with his tiny Japanese wife, he was simply the largest man you've ever seen. Especially from the viewpoint of a preteen boy. He used to wrestle on occasion for the local promoter, Al Tomko as well, and I first got acquainted with him from All Star Wrestling's show that would broadcast on channel 6 every Saturday morning. He would always politely nod back at me if I greeted him at the mall too. Truely larger then life.

Probably my favorite big man. He was so dramatic when someone knocked him off his feet that it felt like something amazing just happened in the sporting world. Everything he did looked so heavy and real. It’s a shame they let him turn face, he was a phenomenal big heel

I always thought Earthquake was kind of an underrated promo too

I've said it for years but John Tenta should be in the hall of fame and should have been put in a long time ago

Despite his odd gimmick choices in WCW and the comedy stuff after the Disasters split in WWE, still an incredible presence. I cannot believe Vince let him go. RIP John Tenta

I'm saddened by the loss of the Earthquake. I just found out his formal name on some of the threads I read. What impressed me the most about the Earthquake was how nimble and quick he moved around the ring despite weighing over 400 pounds. I think I first watched the Earthquake during one of the WWF/WWE house shows during one of the Billy Jack challenges. Fun entertainment.

Earthquake: Since were cool, can you put me over tonight?
Hogan: Not a chance, brother.

Earthquake was in his late 20s in his initial WWE run. That blows my mind.

Jeez Beefcake looks like he outweighs Earthquake nowadays.

Earthquake should be in the Hall of Fame. Along with Haku and Sid.
