Millennial here, but hung out a lot with Gen X as a kid. I assume by "skeptical, " the vid is referring to X's legendary irreverence and sarcasm, which I always loved and still love. It's a real anomaly. No other generation has it that fine-tuned. Their comedians and comedy writers are beasts.

Gen X is also sometimes referred to as the "MTV Generation", just as Gen Z is often referred to as the "iGen". Older ones of the Greatest Generation are often referred to as the Interbellum Generation (came of age during the Roaring 1920s). Those on the cusp of X and Millennials are often referred to as "Xennials" and those on the cusp of Millennials and Z are often referred to as "Zillennials".

The term "greatest generation" was popularized by Tom Brokaw (a famous retired news anchor here in the U.S.) and his 1998 book. It refers mainly to those who grew up in the great depression then fought in WW2.

Gen Alpha is the most insensitive generation I know. They may be kids but they are scarily realistic in what they think and will go very far in the future. They are becoming more detached and colder. They get all infos from the internet easily these days and are able to possess an extraordinary level of knowledge we never imagined. So basically, Gen Alpha is like the opposite of Gen Z and a less stubborn version of millennials.

I’m from Gen X and I never heard of a Golden Commodore. I’m sure our generation must have had a more popular automobile than that created in our era.

I agree it's too early to characterize Alpha because they haven't yet been shaped by their collective life experiences or world events. The items on their list aren't even things they've actually engaged with. Let them live a while before slapping a label on them.

Generation Y (Millennial) here. Born in 1993. I can remember Beyblades very well back in the early 2000s.

Gen x is the multitool of the generations. We can hunt, fish, cut our own fire wood, butcher, build computers, set up networks....build houses. From chainsaw to rifles to bits and bytes. We do it all. ;) Born in 1971...I have sort of done it all. I have had, and butchered pigs and chickens. I have been a teacher in computer science. I have been a professional photographer...I don't go anywhere without a chainsaw and an axe in my car. And often a shot gun, just in case. :)

I'm on the GenX side of the GenX/Millennial cusp.
The Idols is talking about musicians born in that era, not popular in that era. Bieber was born in '94, Swift in '89 and Beyonce in '81

Xennial needs to be officially recognized. Because I know a lot of X/Millennial cuspers like me don't fit into either. I'm a Xennial-- the Oregon Trail generation 😊 Analog childhood with a digital adulthood. Those of us who got our first cell phones at around 20 years old.

Proud Gen X'er. We were also called the forgotten generation because of moms going to work and us being latch key kids. And mainly because gen X was the smallest generation.
