A classic example of an 80's synth-keyboard driven track with gritty tenor vocals and a catchy melody. Still considered a timeless summery classic and played by many radio DJs around the world.
Booker Newberry III began his professional singing career in the group 'Mystic Nights' around 1971 and then moved to Philadelphia where he became the lead singer of the Philly-based group 'Sweet Thunder' who are best known for their classic tracks "Everybody's Singin' Love Songs" and "Baby I Need Your Love Today".
The group recorded three albums, 'Above The Clouds' (1976), 'Sweet Thunder' (1978), and 'Horizons' (1979), the latter of which saw the single "I Leave You Stronger". Newberry would later go on to join another group called 'Impact', who was best known for their dance hits "Give a Broken Heart a Break" and "Rainy Days Stormy Nights."
In 1983 Newberry signed with Neil Bogart's Casablanca Records and his solo single "Love Town" would reach no. 6 in the UK. Although the single and album had limited success in the U.S., Newberry's single was popular in Europe.
In 1986 he released the single "Take a Piece of Me". and later in 1991 he released "Bad Luck", his last single to date. He later recorded his second studio album entitled 'Power People' in 1996.
Booker Newberry III is still performing live and "Love Town" remains his signature song.
