Hey Lego Maniacs! Today we'll be comparing 4 very detailed and different X Wings made from 1999 all the way to 2018...

Thanks for watching and as always let me know what you'll think, along with which X-Wing fighter is your favorite? And may the brick be with you... always

2018's X-wing may be tempting, but even without the missile launchers, I've got to go with the 2012 release. The design of that one is near perfection for me.

Great review! I'm a big fan of comparison videos. They're such a good way see the differences. The X-Wing is such an iconic ship. Out of the minifigure scale X-Wings, I only have the 9493 (2012) and love it. After seeing your video, I think it's still my favorite of these. I like some of the detailing on the newer version. And crazy about the one that came with 6 minifigures, they'd never do that now. Still, I give the minifigure edge to 9493 just because of Porkins...love that figure.

I've actually built three of the 9493s. I got one new not long after I got back into LEGO and built it back then...it's been long disassembled and is back in the box for now. Around a year or so ago I got two mostly complete in separate thrift store hauls. The first one was missing R5-D8 and Porkins (love Porkins) and a handful of pieces. I completed it, washed/dried all the parts and packaged it up for my brother...but I built it to make sure I got all the parts...for me that's the safest way to be sure...otherwise it's easy to make the occasional mistake and grab a part that looks like it's right, to only figure out it's not (or have a Bricklink seller send a wrong piece and not catch it til much later), so I just build them before I give anything as a gift unless it's a sealed set. Oh, and that set was partially built in the tub and very easy to identify.

Then not too long after I got the other one in a tub...that one was completely disassembled, but thanks to getting the previous one right before, I easily spotted the parts. Turned out that one was missing very few pieces and had all the minifigures. I had decided to give it to my other brother for his birthday and thought I had completed it as well. Unfortunately I had waited til the weekend before to build it to check the parts and I figured out I guess I had never completed the few parts it was missing. I had some of the parts, but was missing a few and there was no way to get them in time, so I'm going to give it to him for Christmas instead...my 4 siblings, 4 nieces, and even my mom are all getting mostly LEGO sets for Christmas haha)...I have since gotten the missing parts (and randomly stuck them on the mostly built X-Wing). I need to disassemble it and get it all packaged up for him.

Also, one of those two hauls came with a decent amount of parts for a 3rd 9493...no where near enough to complete, but I think I still have them in a separate ziploc that I had kept until I built both in case I needed any for parts (and I think I did end up grabbing a couple pieces out of it as I completed the two sets).

I had initially toyed with the idea of keeping them for myself, because how awesome is it to have 3 X-Wing fighters that you could display in a battle scene, but between having not much display space, having too much LEGO as it is, and wanting to share the wealth, gifting the extra two was the right decision.

Oh, and I just remembered, I also have and built Poe's X-Wing which was pretty cool too...loved the orange and black when it came out...then the blue one came out and I couldn't justify buying another X-Wing at the time...maybe I'll get it someday, but it's not a high priority.

And of course the best is the UCS X-Wing...I absolutely love that set (everything but the cockpit sticker which I didn't even attempt)...I think it's the set I've had on display the longest...I never get tired of seeing it next to my TV.

Looking forward to your TIE fighter review. The only regular TIE Fighter I've built is the 9492 (2012). I don't remember it as well, but I remembered liking it pretty well. It'll be cool to see a comparison of them. A friend who I used to work with had built the UCS TIE Fighter and brought it into work...that thing was awesome. I would have loved to have gotten it, but there was always something I wanted more for the cost. It's actually what motivated me to build my UCS X-Wing the next weekend and took it into work and we posed them together...that TIE Fighter is HUGE. I think I looked up the scales to see if they were to scale (because it seemed so big), but now I'm not remembering if we ever figured out if the scale was correct or not.

Anyway, great video...keep the comparisons coming!

2012 will always be my favourite, maybe because it’s the only one I own 😂😂😂

Hello Tie The Lego Guy, I'm a Korean Lego YouTuber. I'm making content about old Legos right now, can I use a part of this video? Of course, I'll put your channel and source in the video!
