NeuroSky Mindwave Mobile

There's a new way to control your computer or mobile device that doesn't involve fingers, gestures or even your voice. NeuroSky's Mindwave Mobile reads your brain waves and uses this information to control an entire suite of applications.

It's not a super exact precision instrument, so I don't know about using it for diagnosis - but it works for what it does. In combination with biofeedback software, it has been used to help children with ADHD learn how to focus better.

The Emotic Epoc solves this problem to some extent by using calibration software where the user is instructed to think of up versus down, and then repeat the same thought over and over again. When the software has found the consistent parts of the brainwave (and possible facial movement) pattern, the commands can be used in a game. But EPOC is more expensive and less convenient to wear than this (requires saline for the sensors, whereas MindWave has a dry sensor).

That's simply not true, and it's very easy to see you are wrong by googling this device, for example, check out the hacking that has been done. What is true is that in the beginning, it's difficult to get consistent results, because you don't know what type of mind states you are supposed to be getting. I have used a Neurosky MindWave for 10 months now, and from it feeling almost like it was random in the beginning, I can now consistently control both attention and meditation.

OMG! This crap again?! Stuff like this is 100% gimmick. You cant even remotely read a person thoughts this way. The only thing the sensor is capable of, is detecting muscle activity in a tiny region of the person face. Remember the OCZ NIA? Similar product that was hyped far beyond the capabilities of the device. Numerous Youtube reviews were published claiming that using the NIA you could control FPS games very accurately, without moving a finger, all driven by brain activity. Yeah right! I bought one. You could hardly play PONG with it, even after days of training the system. Google! PLEASE stop swindle people with this fubar tech, and use the earth precious resources for something worth while.
