@jarblewarble ...so Penrose tile CAs can't really do anything more than a regular CA, but it sure SOUNDS wild, doesn't it?!

@U658 Before I found this video, I was trying to do something very similar with a grid of arrays in Java that would evolve in a similar recursive way.

Has anyone tried to use penrose tiles as a rough heightmap for randomly generated terrain? (1 tile is low, the other is high)
