Dr. Tharp Explains: How Long Does LASIK Last?
Показать описание
In this video, Andrew W. Tharp, MD, FACS, Ophthalmologist at The Vision Care Center in Evansville, Indiana, discusses how long LASIK lasts.
Dr. Tharp had his own laser procedure over 20 years ago, and he's still without the need for glasses or contact lenses for distance viewing. With current FDA approval, the Vision Care Center's laser is approved for people as young as 18 years of age. LASIK is one of the most impactful surgical procedures—especially when dealing with people in their 20s needing a very large correction. LASIK may offer them the opportunity to be unburden from the need for contact lenses and glasses for the rest of their life. The very first laser vision correction procedure was done in 1988, and it’s been carefully evaluated since then. Some people may need an enhancement with their LASIK procedure. The Vision Care Center has been performing an all-laser LASIK technique since 2016. With the all-laser technique, a laser is used to make a flap, and a separate laser is used to resurface under the flap.
