Never read Edna O’Brien but you present an enticing case for her work. My bookshelves groan but my heart stirs to hear you describe writing as “glorious.”

All of the books you finished sound amazing! I love that you are finding memoirs that work for you. Think of all the nonfiction you have read this year!

I am definitely adding A National Crime to my TBR . Thanks for sharing it and for your commitment to learning about the atrocities committed - I hope to follow your lead with as much passion!
I appreciated the rest of the video too!

I don't know anything about Edna O'Brien and have not read anything from her, but her memoir has me intrigued! I don't think I've ever read a memoir that focused on other peoples' anecdotes and impressions in that way.

Dear god, I had not realised your filming was so fraught with peril! The clamping setup sounds rather stressful but hearing you talk so enthusiastically about O'Brien's memoir was a delight, I think I might be gifting this to myself this Christmas!

I am anxious to hear what you thought about the Amy Tan novel. I am sure you loved it so that's something to look forward to in Jan.

Positive reviews with caveats from you and Roz mean I’ll pick up my copy of The Old Man and his Sons soon!

I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the Heđin Brú - it's definitely one of my favorite Faroese novels. It is quite a strange book, which is typical, as you said, of islanders! The Edna O'Brien memoir sounds fascinating - I love her fiction. Thanks for this!

Some recommendations for you
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan ( a small book with a big impact)
The Power of the Dog by Thomas Savage ( the film adaptation on Netflix is brilliant)

The O’Brien makes me think of Eve Babitz; is it that kind of vibes?

I don’t know if you have a Canadian Audible account, plus has so many indigenous books at the moment! Sometimes you have to hunt for them, but there’s a surprising amount, and free with the membership; making it a much better deal that previously.

So are you saying you don't want the link to watch Hallmark Christmas movies every day from now until Dec 25th? :-)
