Will this end the NAIA's reputation as the "Worst Airport in Asia" now that this is managed by Ramon Ang's San Miguel Corporation?

"Today, we are finally doing what the government has wanted to do since the 1990s -- to use public-private partnership (PPP) in enabling a private operator to manage the operations and maintenance of NAIA and make it truly world-class. We wish NNIC much success," Transportation chief Jose C. Ines said in a statement.

"A world-class airport means more jobs, more tourists, and a much more stronger and prosperous Philippines," NNIC Chairman Ramon S. Ang said during the handover ceremony at the NAIA Terminal 3 on Friday.

The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) officially took over the management and operation of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Saturday and with it, the task of modernizing the 76-year-old gateway.

NNIC, the consortium that includes San Miguel Corporation and Incheon International Airport Corporation of South Korea, has committed to spend PHP170 billion to execute its phased but ambitious plan to elevate NAIA to world-class standards.

This includes plans to increase passenger capacity from 43 million to 62 million annually and air traffic movements from 40 to 48 per hour.

Among the expected changes are:

Within 3 to 6 months: Functional escalators and toilets, stable power and water, improved air conditioning, upgraded baggage handling, faster passenger processing, more seating, enhanced WiFi;

Within 3 years: Runway improvements, increased terminal capacity, improved commercial spaces, better traffic flow, direct link from NAIA Terminal 3 to the Skyway system;

Long-term: New terminal building to accommodate an additional 35 million passengers annually; flood mitigation in surrounding areas; linkage to the Metro Manila Subway.

I recommend a fast, dependable and efficient SKY TRAIN will be built to inter connect all four NAIA Terminals for easy transfer of passengers. I hope SMC will consider building this as other modern airports with multiple terminals has this kind of services provided.

Here's mine: More SEATS for travelers (esp. Foreigners) or more proper waiting lounge since I saw some in the vid that they are lying in the floor! I hope this one will be the ones to be improved.

I only hope and dream that 1 day that NAIA will have E Gates at departure/ arrival gates for all passengers and trains between the different terminals; like the ones at many other international airports : Dubai, Frankfurt, etc..
I believe those are necessary services that can be realized and fulfilled .

We greatly appreciate the willingness of San Miguel to help our country in any way they can
as a Filipino Multinational Company. Clearly they care for our country's economic growth thereby providing the much needed moral boost and service for the Filipino people moving forward. The take over of the management of NAIA 3 is a small step for sure of the many other projects San MIguel has envisioned for our country. Mabuhay po kayo!! Maraming salamat po

With NAIA under new hands, this will determine the direction it will go to when it comes to airline services.
