A Bunch of New Space Stations

With the ISS set to retire around 2030, a number of different companies are working on their own commercial stations to provide unique on-obrit services.

I think it's best to keep an INTERNATIONAL space station. Even during the least friendly times between the west and Russia the astronauts were STILL helping each other out. They wede still flying them back and forth on each others rockets. I hate the idea of lots of small station's where nobody knows what they're doing.

It'll be heartbreaking seeing the ISS burn up. I remember being sad when they retired the space shuttle

Axiom attaching their new modules to the old station will give them access to spare parts and equipment from the ISS before the ISS is detached for destruction... Smart move by Axiom.

I wish they could at least keep it in a graveyard orbit. I dont expect people to keep living in it, but at least keep it in space to see how large structures age in space as an experiement or something.

(I understand leaving it in orbit will case more space debris, but I think we can make an exception for the ISS)

With it being musk taking the station out of orbit, im amazed that hes not going to bring it down piece by piece so either he can keep it or nasa can keep it to put it in a museum. Sad to see it get burned up in the atmosphere.

Anybody that's ever restored a car or renovated a house knows that sometimes it's better to just start from scratch. We don't need to upgrade a 1980's Chrysler K-car until we have a bad Tesla imitation.

Still, I wish they would keep portions of it up there somewhere in a graveyard orbit. Drop the wobbly parts in the Pacific and turn off the power and let it sit for 50 more years as an large scale experiment.

When Russia designed ISS from MIR-2 they designed it to be de-orbited by Soyuz, Russia's new station ROSS its core module Nem-1 is complete.
