Despite qualifying for UGC-NET and holding a PhD, candidates eligible for the assistant professor post struggle to make a living. In the absence of government jobs, these candidates turn to private colleges for a meager salary. "In many colleges in my city, salaries ranging between Rs 8,000 and Rs 12,000 are being paid to assistant professors," says a PhD holder.

Yes we give 10-12 precious year of our lives and we can't able to earn a equal as a mechanic. This is value of hard work and education in this Country.

I twice qualified UGC NET. worked in a govt college on ₹400 per class remuneration around about 8000 a month. Then had to enter a govt job as a MTS to support my family. They are distributing UGC net like sweets on republic day. The regulation of pvt colleges is very poor

UGC also destroying the quality of education in colleges, No proper seminar only political drama nowadays.. No facility for students. Merging colleges into university without proper campus, like in chhatarpur, MP MCBU university, Ruined of quality of humanities in state University, with improper teaching & syallabus. It is happening because No politician have the idea to frame higher education, in fact they are promotion education mafiya especially in MP, Bihar, UP, CG

For example B. Ed nowadays nis joke, all top mafia running B. Ed college & destryong the education structire in presence of administration. These education mafia & corroupt politician are dangerous to Nation, we need to think about it.

Government priority is NOT research & development, all are working for just quantity

Bureaucrats are busy in eating the budget

Nowadays condition is that phd can be available by paying certain amount of money

But we are busy in Non sense discourses which are diverting the mindset & hiding the reality

Talk about nepotism too. 19 year olds are becoming assistant professor in a central university and mid 50s year old professor loved by students are quitting

"Not just private colleges, but government and state universities as well. Permanent staff enjoy all the benefits, while we are labeled as 'temporary' or 'ad hoc' and more. Many colleges rely entirely on these so-called temporary staff, yet the salary is shameful, and the disrespect and mental pressure are immense."

The biggest issue was glossed over in the video. That of nepotism when appointing educators in higher education institutions.

I had worked as an Assistant Professor in an Engineering college for 6 years, The situation is equally worse, private colleges are running mafias, government is giving them free NBA and NAAC accreditation for collges with zero infrastructure in exchange of huge amount money also increasing the student faculty ratio from 1:15 to 1:20, completely forcing faculties to work with lesser salaries, the education system in india is as much worse for the teachers as it is for students.

A daily wage worker earns more. His hardwork is paid. But, a highly literate asst prof is treated poorly. Hasn't he worked hard to earn the degree, clear the entrance, teach 8 hours a day and even study after going home ??

Very true. I am living this hell. We are treated as beast of burden. Just take classes and become the stooge of permanent faculties. They hector upon us, reminding us of our downgraded position and that if we rebel, would be fired. There is no recognition whatsoever. The term "contract" is iself demeaning. Are not we humans? Or has the law differentiated us to become pariah?
