Ledisi won this because Jennifer was screaming at the top of her voice to get those notes out. Ledisi was pushing from her diaphragm to get her notes out. That's why Jennifer sounds like her voice is about to go out. But Ledisi sounds strong and sustained. Jennifer needs better technique

Jennifer is great but lacks the control and agility to execute Aretha's vocal run here. She tends to excel on straight power notes. Ledisi comfortably wins this one for me, way more precision and control, her mixed voice is effortless.

Ledisi hands down! Ledisi has more vocal control period, she’s a belting beast without the yelling of Jennifer. Jennifer does way too much…never knows how to pull back.

Both ladies did a beautiful job. Now, I will say, my choice would be Ledisi for this one. Ledisi’s rendition is a bit lower in key than JHud’s version, so she is singing more comfortably and able to reach for the insane notes to compliment where she wanted to go with the song. JHud sounds amazing and she is going for those notes and showcasing some of the highest notes she has sang live. So the focus would be more on accuracy and landing the notes, where if done in a lower key like Ledisi, she could’ve done more improvisation and had a bit more freedom. I respect both woman and their take on the song! ❤
