The blues, country and folk singer is going back to her classical roots for a set of concerts with the Breton Symphony Orchestra here in France. The multi-instrumentalist and native of North Carolina is better known for the bluegrass music she made as part of the Grammy award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Since then, Giddens has forged a critically-acclaimed solo career branching out into jazz and folk; she tells us how the stand-out track on her new album was inspired by an authentic account of slavery in the antebellum South.
