I am surprised that all the comments focus on steadiness, while I think that sharpness and, most critically, color balance / tone, are also far better on the GoPro. Perhaps the only advantage of the iPhone is the dynamic range. But color balance is way too warm / green-tinted on the iPhone footage. I would keep the GoPro for now. Thanks for the video.

In fact I am really surprised that no major smartphone manufacturers have thought in all this time to integrate a selfie sensor at the same level as the main rear sensor with a optical stabilization.

I am convinced that the first one who does this will be a hit.

Ps: or quite simply put a screen on the back like on the Mi 11 Ultra but a little bigger screen.

Edited to add that being somewhat of an Apple fanboy, the clarity and overall video quality of the GoPro is still quite a bit ahead of the iPhone (to me, at least). Apple would be great in a pinch, but I’m considering a GoPro because the iPhone just isn’t quite there yet.

In the beginning while you were walking I was like "he totally doesn't need the gopro. " But when starting to move it becomes obvious. Let's hope apple releases like stabilization soon. Feels like the hardware is already capable for it. Will totally be a game changer. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for doing this test! I want to step up to both, the 13 Pro and Hero10 as well. I was wondering about stabilization as well as trying to match both of them up for color correction. I'm thinking that something like the DJI OM 5 may do the trick on stabilization on the 13 Pro. I always shoot flat with my Hero7 Black and color correct in FCPX. With that being said, using the 13 Pro along with GoPro may be impossible in post. I definitely would love to see further testing between these two. Thanks again! Great job!! 👍😊

@Chase the Summit One thing the iPhone might beat the GoPro at: GPS Since the iPhone would have better gps options than the GoPro, one can better use gps overlay effects.

Yeah, there are still good reasons to buy a GoPro. IF it is reliable: if it doesn’t lose files, if the sound doesn’t crackle.

Great comparison mate! I bought the Hero 10 when it came out, I prefer it over my phone :) don't mind carrying the extra weight

Very good comparison video, thanks for that! Would have been a lot cooler if it was at 30fps. Unless there's hardly any movement, or shot with a professional studio camera, 24fps looks like a distracting slideshow.

You need an action camera if you are doing action. As a MTBr how are mount a big iPhone in your helmet or chest harness? On top
Of that stabilization is way better on GoPro. Like I said if you are really doing action you need an action camera, not just a camera

The image quality of the GoPro appeals to my preference of a cooler tone. I just happen to have an extra iPhone laying around and refuse to spend the money on a go pro once again.

The iphone color temperature was way too warm. Also, all the fidgeting with using your phone as a still/video camera leaves it a lot more prone to being dropped and banged around and you need your phone for calls, etc. I would use the phone only as a backup and use the tough action ca (either GoPro or DJI Osmo to do the rough handling and stabilization.
