Η Λευκάδα είναι νησί του Ιονίου πελάγους και μαζί με τα νησιά Κέρκυρα, Κεφαλλονιά, Ιθάκη, Ζάκυνθος και Παξοί αποτελούν την περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων. Είναι το τέταρτο σε έκταση νησί στο Ιόνιο (320 τ.χλμ.) και το τέταρτο σε πληθυσμό με περίπου 22.000 κατοίκους κατά την απογραφή του 2001

Lefkada is a greek island in the Ionian Sea on the west coast of Greece, connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. The region of Ionian Islands was established in the 1987 administrative reform, comprising the prefectures of Corfu, Kefalonia and Ithaca, Lefkada and Zakynthos.
