the brass does sound better than the plastic. I bought cheap one on ebay. well worth the 5 bucks I put them on a Martin and a Taylor. my main reason for changing is the plastic ones pop out when I am tuning I am sick of plastic.

Brass pins add a little weight to the bridge, so you'd think they'd sound quieter than plastic or ebony—but I don't hear any significant difference, other than what you'd expect from the guitar being tuned slightly differently and played differently between the two tests.

I've had a hell of a time removing plastic pins for strings that haven't been changed in 10 years. The plastic pins all broke, then they were stuck in the bridge. I'm going to try brass this time - thanks for this video.

A more interesting comparison would be between ebony and brass pins. I reckon it's always a good idea to change plastic pins unless they're very well made, but as for ebony or brass .... I'm not sure. I tend to go for ebony, but that's just me.

Want to sell brass pins? Pick the notes over the soundhole for the plastic pins, then move down toward the bridge for the brass pins. Of course they sound brighter.

Couldn't hear a tone difference over the background noise, but the guitar was less out of tune with the brass pins (no doubt unrelated to the pin material).
