Carbon and its Compounds 16 | Soaps and Detergents | CBSE Class 10

CBSE class 10 Science - Carbon and its Compounds - We will study the structure of soap and detergent and how they work.
A molecule of Soap is Sodium or potassium salt of long chain of carboxylic acid. The hydrophilic end disolves in water and hydrophobic end dissolve in oil.
Soap miscelles have large molecules which can scatter light, so solution appears cloudy. Whereas the scum is produced due to the hard water.
The Detergents are ammonium and Sulphate salts of long chain carboxylic acid.
