Hey eryn, just a quick question, what swab do you use to clean your boot joint?

hey, do you know where I could get some medium reeds, I have been playing the bassoon for almost 2 years and I have been using soft reeds and I need the medium ones now, thanks :)

Hi! For that first soak-dry cycle after clipping the tip (when the shrinkage happens) do you leave the reed on the mandrel? Or do you allow it to dry off the mandrel? Thanks!

Could you do a review on different types of reamers? I own the Forrests brand one and not a fan and while my goal is to buy a Rieger reamer soon, I'd love to see your opinion on others - maybe there's a dupe out there somewhere! ;) Another interesting point, a reed maker I've bought from actually asks what instrument and bocal you're playing on so they can match to it. Intricate stuff!

I once attended my teacher's reed making workshop held in a shop and I compared my Rieger reamer with his same one. I noticed that both blades are slightly different shape in bullet like tip. So we checked the shop inventory and found another shape Rieger reamer.
His reamer is over 40 years old, my one is 15 years old, so there could be some change in production at Rieger. I checked them because of his reads are not sit on my Heckel bocal properly but my reeds are do. Also it seams each Heckel bocals are slightly different in tip outer shape. It means, in my opinion, there are good and bad combination with a reamer and a bocal.

Rotating work rather than rotating tool is a basic of machining (like lathe work), hence I prefer to turn the reed instead turn the reamer when reaming.
